Chapter 1

"Ruhi, Kahan ho jaan", Vivek stepped inside the house searching for his wife. He entered the kitchen hoping to find her but she wasn't there. He checked the bathroom in the hall, and she wasn't there too.

He climbed the stairs to go to their shared room calling out for her, "Ruhi kahan ho".

On the other side, ruhi flinched on his voice. She moved clutching the small key in her hand and quickly hiding it under the bed's mattress. Her breath quickening as she wiped the sweat of her skin and quickly kneeled picking up the broom acting to swipe the room.

Vivek stopped on the doorway of their room, finally finding her. A malicious smile on his wife, as he approached near her and knelt infront of her.

"Aww my queen, finally doing chores after crying for all day", his voice mocking as he reached and cupped her cheek softly. The softness felt like mockery on her bruised skin.

He traced the red mark of slapping on her face softly cooing her. He took the broom in his hand and tossed it aside, pulling her up and making her sit on the bed gently. She shivered still looking down, her body moving like a porcelain doll.

He traced her arms up and down making her wince in pain as there was fresh bruises with old ones too. She whimpered when he held her hand a little to roughly for her comfort but didn't protest.

Vivek moved closer to ruhi, his one hand tracing her red cheeks, not from blush but from bruises. He leaned closer, "You are so beautiful ruhi". He looked into her soft brown eyes telling her.

Her eyes only flickered pain and confusion from the sudden softness of her husband. She gulped not daring to speak anything infront of him. "Ruhi, you are listening right?"

She nodded too quickly, afraid he would punish if she didn't answer him. He smiled softly moving closer to her, their breath mingling. Ruhi's eyes fluttered in uneasiness, her body shivering from the force of stopping herself to not break down infront of him.

She whimpered in discomfort when he leaned and pulled her in a rough kiss. Her hands fisting in her sides and shaking from fear. But he didn't stop, he didn't even care.

For him, it was her shyness not discomfort.

Silent tears escaped her eyes feeling his hands roam shamelessly on her body not even caring about the delicate skin when bruises covered her.

The bruises was given by none other than her husband, Vivek Mehra.

He pulled back when he was satisfied, while she silently looked down tears still streaming her eyes. Vivek then stood and walked towards a cupboard and pulled the medkit which only had one cream, the antiseptic cream he got for her as her birthday gift probably from some cheap store.

He again sat infront of her and took her hands , Carefully folding her saree pleats baring her arms which still had fresh wounds from belt and hands. She hissed sharply when he took a handful of cream and applied it roughly on her arms squeezing them.

She let out a choked cry when he deliberately pressed on her wounds with pressure, "Is it paining my jaan?".

"Huh, tell me is it paining?", he softly held her jaw while his other hand did the same to her next arm. She cried silently shaking her head as no. "Good, Because you know I can't hurt my pure wife right?".

Ruhi nodded and he smiled sadistic.

"Toh kyu karti ho itni galtiyan?. Dekho kitni takleef hoti mujhe tumhe takleef deke marham lagane me", He pouted mockingly in over sweet voice.

"Ab se galti nahi karogi na, jaan?", he cupped her face. She stilled, her breathing uneven. And quickly nodded. He roughly wiped her tears standing up after jerking her face from his hands.

"Now go and bring that jewellery I asked yesterday", Vivek announced turning his back to her and going to the dinning table and sitting down. He lifted the plates to find a two rotis and a little curry in the plate.

His expression changed in an instant, his nose flared as he glared at the food but he didn't said anything and started eating it. He sat on the bed still looking his figure.

She had just came home after working in other's house as a maid. And as soon as she came she cooked the food knowing his husband well and she didn't wanted another set of punishments tonight.

She gulped finally daring to speak, "A-ap jante hai. That's my mother's last memorial. I-i Can't give it to you".

Vivek jerked up from the table as he had completed eating everything, walked to her and grabbed her by her hair, "Why did you say?. Didn't I already beat you for this. Now as a good wife go and bring the jewellery, Go", he pushed her inside to get it.

But she just stood sniffing their hoping for a little ounce of mercy from her husband that he never showed. Vivek ran his hand through his hair, his anger only raising at her resistance. He glared at her and when she didn't move from her place he couldn't help but slap her across the face harshly.

She stumbled back on the dinning table, the plates clattering and falling down. The chair's back hit her abdomen making her yelp in pain, but he never shower never. He never had for her.

She screamed when the pain became unbearable and he tensed quickly moving to her. He pulled her into his arms wiping under her eyes and cooing her, "Shh Jaan it's okay. It's normal for you".

"I'm sorry ok. I got carried away. But you handle me well. Now be a good wife and bring the set, will you?", She shook her head, her hand still clutching her stomach.

"Please Vivek. Aise mat kariya. Maine aapko sab gehne pehle hi de diye the. Please it's mom's last thing I have with me.", she begged him falling to her knees but he just kicked her fisting his hair.

"Ruhi, ruhi ruhi. Mar na chahti ho kya. Agar aaj marna nahi chahti toh jaise maine kaha waisa karo", vivek yelled at her grabbing her by shoulders and shaking her roughly.

Tears blurred her vision as she continued pleading him, "ple-ase vivek ji i-i beg y-ou ".

"You are such a waste, ruhi".

Vivek rolled his eyes and pushed her on the floor, he tossed pillows first looking under. He threw all the things of the wardrobe searching there. Then he tossed her clothes on the floor searching for her key for her locker.

She kept crying on the floor, the pain just intensifying with every passing second. She kept whispering but he never heard her.

Vivek finally found the key under the mattress, a wicked gleam in his eyes as he moved towards the locker. Ruhi panicked , she shooted herself up and following him in the room.

"Vivek, please ple-ase ", she tried holding his arm to stop him from opening the locker, but he just jerked her away finally taking out the final set she was left with.

She grabbed his hands, trying to snatch her mother's last dear thing but he pushed her harshly making her fall straight on her stomach on the floor again. She screamed in pain calling his name, "Vivekkkkkkkk".

But he just took his bike's keys and climbed off the stairs leaving the house.

Ruhi kept crying, screaming in pain, her body weak and pilant from the stress, not eating properly and enduring the torture. She kept calling out for help until she finally passed out. Blood surrounding near her legs as she lost her complete consciousness.

.

.

A few hours laters, ruhi's neighbour Sunitha walked into her house. She was confused finding it all lockless and open.

"Ruhi", Sunitha called out before walking to check in her kitchen. But she wasn't there too. She then finally climbed the stairs going to her room.

A sharp scream left her mouth seeing the scene infront of her. There was Ruhi, fallen on her stomach unconscious and blood pooling all around her. Ruhi's eyes half lidded as she passed out from pain.

"Ru-hi".

She quickly ran down to call someone to help. Within few minutes, the people of the neighborhood gathered and was shocked to see the scene. One of them quickly called the ambulance and picked her up taking her to hospital.

Reaching in the hospital, Sunitha moved with emergency calling the doctors and nurses. They quickly shifted ruhi to OT preparing for the operation.

"Please make sure to pay the bill so we can proceed with operation", the doctor said her making her blank.

"Please save her. The money will be transferred Please", she begged but the hospital faculty didn't seem to mind her plea.

Sunitha was shocked and trembling from what she saw. She ran towards the receptionist and requested to make a call.

Sunitha gave Vivek's number to her to call him and inform about his wife.

The receptionist made the call and kept it on speaker for Sunitha to talk.

The call answered, "Kon hai be?".

"Hel-lo vivek, tumhari bi-wi hospital me hai usse OT me—“, Sunitha was shivering as she spoke but got cutted off when he spoke.

" I don't have a single penny to spend on her. If she dies let her". And the call ended.

Sunitha mouth hung open, she couldn't believe how careless of husband he was. It wasn't like she didn't knew about his nature towards ruhi, but she hoped he atleast cared for his wife.

He didn't even asked if she was okay, or if she was alive. He straighted thought that he was called for money.

Her heart clenched for the young woman's life she had seen. She gave the phone back to receptionist and moved out of the hospital.

Half an hour later she entered holding money on her pallu. She went to the nurse who was supposed to make bills and transferred the money for ruhi's operation. She had sold her own gold bangles to save the woman she had seen suffering from three years.

She begged the doctor to save ruhi's life. Only after the payment the doctor's team moved to the OT room. Sunitha kept crying and praying from the hallway.

A few hours later, the doctor came out and informed she is stable and should be kept under care for next 24 hours. But what the doctor next said shocked her to the core, "She was pregnant and had a severe miscarriage. In her case she might doesn't even remember what had happened with her a few hours before the accident".
